With our new VST/AU plug-ins Spexx and I2C8 having only recently been released, it is important to note that the AAX standard is not supported currently. This means that users of ProTools can't use the plug-ins yet.
Read on to find out more.
AAX for use with ProTools
ProTools remains the de-facto industry standard when it comes to sequencer hardware in music production. Tied to it is the AAX standard, which is unique to ProTools - and, which is closely guarded by Avid, owner/maker of ProTools.
For a developer to get access to the documentation of AAX, an agreement has to be signed with Avid first. While this enables certain quality checks, it prevents developers with no experience in AAX from an exchange with other developers - as the agreement includes an NDA.
It is for this reason that we have decided not to invest in AAX before the launch of the new plug-ins as it would have created a number of unknowns. However, this does not mean that there is no intention to support AAX in the near future - to the contrary, we're about to speed up this process significantly. The aim is to include support for AAX within the next weeks already.
